We held our Patient Participation Group (PPG) meeting on Tuesday 17 March, where we were delighted to welcome back some members who have been unable to make it for a while.

During the meeting, we heard from Active Essex and the Health and Wellbeing team from Castle Point Council, who shared some really exciting plans to make The Paddocks into a community wellbeing hub. Some of the funding for this project will come from the Pride in Place submission that we heard about at our last PPG meeting.

This includes plans for a community garden at the Primary Care Centre site, which the PCN is extremely keen to support with. This forms part of the PCN's work as a member of the Canvey Integrated Neighbourhood Team.

We also heard that Parkrun is coming to Canvey in April, with a planned route along the seafront. The PCN is keen to help promote this, and we hope to make Canvey the first area in the country to have all its GP practices signed up as a Parkrun Practice.

Dr Adegbite shared details of the 2026 COVID spring booster clinics at the Primary Care Centre - these will take place from 8am to 12pm on:

    • Saturday 18 April
    • Saturday 25 April
    • Saturday 2 May

Clinics are drop-in only, no appointment necessary. We will review the need for further clinics once we have a better idea of demand.

We also told the group about the launch of the PCN Virtual PPG, and our plans to launch a survey to get feedback on the new GP appointment booking systems that have been introduced. Watch this space for the survey, we would love to hear your views.

As always, if you would like to attend a future meeting in person, please let us know at mseicb-cpr.canveypcn@nhs.net.

We held our face-to-face Patient Participation Group (PPG) meeting on Tuesday 9 December.

    Topics under discussion included:

    • Updates from the PCN team, including an introduction to our new Clinical Team Leader
    • Concerns raised by members about the new e-consultation systems introduced by GP practices
    • A new Pharmacy Hub introduced by the PCN, to provide better support to practices from the PCN pharmacy team
    • The Government’s Pride in Place programme, for which Canvey has been selected to benefit. A proposed plan from the Integrated Care Board has been submitted and will be shared with the group in due course

We will use this page to post more information on the topics raised, and there will be the opportunity to feedback and be part of the discussion.
